Summer 2016 – Mr. Tim Gittens (aka Headache) visits Coach Skip & NYCBBC players in the park.
Tim Gittens is a NYC legend, J.C. ALL AMERICAN, attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
& is the first player to sign an endorsement deal as a street ball player. He starred in a Video Game
called “Streethoops” & he played with the Globetrotters, NBA tryouts (New York Knicks) & travels all
over the world to talk to youth about being a True student athlete.

We are planning ahead for our last day (Championship & Trophy Day). Heavy rain is predicted so we are CANCELING our program on Sat, Aug 12, 2017, to protect the trophies that will be delivered to the park.

We will resume the next day on Sun, Aug 13th.  Refer to the “2017 Summer Program” section below to download the Game Schedule for championship game times.

All players MUST make every effort to attend to pick up his/her trophy.

Remember EVERY PARTICIPANT receives a trophy.

ALL RAFFLES (sold or unsold) must be returned by 10 am or your child will not receive his/her trophy.

Players are required to wear his/her uniform for pictures.

2017 Summer Program

CHAMPIONSHIP & TROPHY DAY: Sat, August 12th, 2017

Divisions:  13 & Under  and  17 & Under

Dear NYCBBC Family, there are important changes made to the summer program.
There will NO LONGER be a Learning & Fundamentals Division or a Senior Division.

Our schedule for the 23rd Annual NYC Basketball Classic, Inc.
2017 Summer League is as follows:



  • FEE: $175 per participant
  • REGISTRATION DATES (& Uniform Sizing) ONLY – for all kids 17 years and under: Sat, May 6th;   Sun, May 7th;   & Sat, May 13th
  • LOCATION: The Cherry Tree Park, 100 Street & 3rd Avenue, NY, NY 10029
  • TIME: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

We ask that all kids have an understanding or have played organized basketball (because there will no longer be any learning sessions).

  • DIVISIONS: 12 & Under;   14 & Under;  and 17 & Under (consisting of 4 teams each with 40 players per division).
  • NOTE: Spaces are limited and there will be no extra uniforms available or ordered for anyone wanting to register after May 13th.



  • DATES: Sat, May 20th;    May 27th;   and June 3rd

Teams will be made on June 3rd and last scrimmages on June 10th

  • TIMES:  12 & Under division = 9:00am – 10:30 am

14 & Under division = 10:30 am – 12 noon

17 & Under division = 12 noon – 1:30 pm


GAMES BEGIN: Sat, June 17th (6 games minimum and all teams make the play-offs). A game schedule will be issued.


IMPORTANT: There will no more be a Learning & Fundamentals Division

Skip Received a NYC Transport Workers Union Local 100 Award

NYC Transport Worker’s Union Local 100 Honored Skip (along with former Mayor David Dinkins) in February 2017 during Black History Month for his 23-years of service as the Founder and Director of NYC Bombsquad Basketball Classic League and to the kids in the community.

Skip Received the Rory A. Forehand Foundation Community Service Award

Skip received this award from Antoine Forehand (NYCBBC Alumni and one of Skip’s former player at Rice HS) and his family for his work in the community and keeping the youth of the city off the streets and giving them a positive environment to play the game of basketball.

NYCBBC’s Annual
Academic Achievement Awards

On Championship & Trophy day the NYCBBC holds its annual Academic Achievement Award present-ation to recognize the kids who have excelled academically over the school year. This achievement award was named in honor of the Director’s (Skip) 2nd Grade teacher the “Susan Burstein Academic Achievement Award“. Ms. Burstein personally presents the award to each kid every summer.
